It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
The countdown to the end-of-year holiday break is well and truly underway, and let’s face it, most businesses have been winding down for a few weeks now – which is why this is the perfect time to do the exact opposite!
Why?
Because in order to stand out, you’ve got to do what everyone else ISN’T.
While there are still a couple of weeks left in the year, most of your competitors have probably already started slowing down in preparation for the holidays.
But wait!
Before you start doing the same, there are a few simple yet powerful things you can do now for your business’ marketing to help kickstart your new year when you return in January.
Think of these as the quick and easy wins that you can grab for your business while everyone else is already daydreaming of their first pina colada by the beach.
Trust me, it might seem like a bit of extra work now, but you’ll thank yourself come January – and don’t worry, it’s all fun stuff anyway!
So, in the spirit of the holiday season, I give you… The 9 Days of Holiday Marketing!
Day 1: Optimise your LinkedIn profile
This first one is very simple, but it will pay dividends for you and your business come next year.
Optimising your LinkedIn profile will not only allow you to portray a more professional image online, but it will also help position you as an authority in your industry. Plus, the more information you add to your profile, the easier it will be for people to find you on LinkedIn.
To help you, we’ve created this simple LinkedIn profile optimisation checklist that you can follow to ensure you get the results that you are after.
Check out our own LinkedIn profiles to see how we have optimised them for our business:

Day 2: Build your new Creds Deck
New Year, New Creds Deck!
Don’t start another year using the same presentation slide deck you’ve been using for three years. You want to provide potential clients with something fresh, current and relevant to your business now to show them what you’re capable of.
If you need some inspiration, check out our new Creds Deck that we’ve just put together.
Day 3: Plan your ‘Big Rock’ content piece for the new year
Don’t worry, I didn’t say write. I just said plan.
By this, I mean brainstorming the conversation that you and your company want to own in the new year. Then, when you get back in January, you can get straight into putting together your Big Rock content piece around this conversation.
As an example, the conversation that Ask Marketing owned this year was “How to build a successful brand by building a solid foundation”.
You can see our Big Rock content piece here to see exactly what I mean.
If you want an Australian copywriting agency to then help you write it, we know just who to send you to, as we work with the best in the business! Just ask and we will connect you.
Day 4: Update your Google My Business page
Take this opportunity to do a little housekeeping by reviewing and updating your Google My Business listing to make sure that it continues to reflect your business.
Don’t forget to update your business hours for the holidays as well!
Check out our Google Listing here for a guide on how to set yours up. You’ll notice we also load all of our educational blogs, like this one, as Post Updates. You should be doing the same! It is a quick and easy way to bring your content to the front of search results.
Day 5: Put together your happy holiday comms
This one is super fun!
Sending a quick Seasons Greetings and Happy Holidays email to your clients is a simple yet effective way to thank them for the year that was and make them feel like a valued part of your business.
Day 6: Organise and send Christmas gifts
Sending Christmas gifts to clients you work with regularly is another great way to ensure they feel like a valued member of your circle.
A couple of tips here:
- Personalisation is EVERYTHING!
- Tell a story with your gifts – if they’re made by a charity that supports families in need, let your clients know how their gift has helped!
Day 7: Plan your content calendar template for the new year
Give yourself a head start for the new year and prepare your content calendar now so that you’re ready to dive straight into content marketing again when you return in January.
You can find our free content calendar template here to get you started.
Day 8: Capture candid personal content during the holidays for your audience
Let’s face it, people love to see candid posts that they can relate to online, such as this one right here.
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. In fact, the more relatable and down-to-earth your content is, the better. Your audience will enjoy seeing this side of you and your business, and who knows, it may just make them feel more compelled to work with you in the new year.
Day 9: Review the customer touchpoints in your marketing funnel
There’s no better time than the start of a new year to review all the touchpoints that you use to move your prospects through your funnel and convert them into paying clients.
We’ve even put together this helpful article on 10 customer touchpoints that you can use in your business to help make more sales.
That concludes The 9 Days of Holiday Marketing
On behalf of myself and the team here at Ask Marketing, we wish you a wonderful holiday break with your family and friends, and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year!
Cheers and Happy Holidays from our Team across Australia, Europe and The Philippines.
